Within the framework of the “Wipperfurth Smart City” project, Osram modernizes street lighting in the Wipperfürth (Germany). The basis of the project was the installation of intelligent LED columns, equipped with individual control modules, implemented with the help of special software.

Each of the installed LED lights is capable of transmitting information via Bluetooth, which users will receive via the application on the smartphone. Such data may contain advertisements relevant to the location of the user.

In the future, the functionality of intelligent street lights can be supplemented by sensors that collect various information about the terrain in which the user is located.

Firefly LED lamp

The LED lamp, developed by Firefly LED (USA), can significantly reduce the cost of electricity. According to the creators of the device, the lamp can safely last for 40 years, without the need for a replacement.

A special feature of such lamps is the use of a large radiator surrounded by a light source. A radiator is necessary in order to remove heat from the lamp. Thus, it is possible to significantly extend the lifetime of the lighting device.

The cost of the Firefly lamp starts at about $ 35 (Starfly PAR20 model), which is a serious investment for such a device. But if you believe the official specifications, the product can pay off in just a few months and will achieve significant energy savings of 40 years.

Upgrading of the software of the “Helios” automated control system

IVT BelGU was among the winners of the national competition ENES-2016

As a result of the open Internet voting IVT BelGU took second place at the Third national competition in the sphere of implemented energy saving projects and improve energy efficiency ENES-2016 in the nomination “The best project for the modernization of street lighting”.

Previously, IVT BelGU won the regional stage of the competition ENES-2016 by presenting implemented project of the introduction of automated outdoor lighting control system “Helios” in the Belgorod region.

The award ceremony will take place in the framework of the Fifth International Forum on energy efficiency programs and energy development ENES in Moscow on 23-24 November 2016.

IVT BelGU awarded the gratitude of the Federation Council

IVT BelGU took part in the Yalta annual energy conference «New Energy – Look into the Future», held in the Republic of Crimea, from 21 to 23 September. At the conference, representatives of business and government discussed the topical issues of the energy sector and the shared experience of its solution. According to the results of the conference prepared an address to the Russian Government, which presents the main recommendations for the effective development of energy complex.

The conference concluded with an awards ceremony at which IVT BelGU was awarded the gratitude for the great contribution to the development of energy saving and energy efficiency. Gratitude were awarded on the initiative of the Federation Council and the Russian Ministry of Energy.

Las Vegas Installs Smart LED Street Lights

Street lighting system will be upgraded in Las Vegas to improve energy efficiency. There will install streetlights developed by EnGoPlanet  (New York), powered by solar batteries. An additional source of energy for it is special tile-battery, sensitive to the movement of pedestrians.  Also lamps are equipped with proximity sensors that regulate the inclusion of the backlight, thereby saving energy. There are building codes with requirements to the level of street lighting, the violation of which threatens fines for service companies. Besides this, low-quality road lighting increases the probability of an accident. These problems are difficult to solve because of the minimum budget for the modernization of street lighting.

IVT BelSU has developed a standalone dimming device which allows you to adjust the light flow using the energy-saving burning algorithm. The device does not require the use of expensive automated outdoor lighting control system and remote controlled driver. This solution is suitable for the implementation of energy efficient outdoor lighting of roads and highways with a minimum budget.

Autonomous dimmed device is given a schedule of work and periods of dimming lamps. Parameters of the burning time and dimming can be reconfigured for a maximum energy efficiency. IVT BelSU has been developed a variety of lighting control technologies, taking into account market trends, customer needs and experiences in the field of outdoor lighting automation. The company has created lamp control devices such as HPS, LED, induction lamps.

”Helios” electronic ballast is control device for high-pressure sodium lamps (HPS), has a built-in PLC-modem and individual lamp control function, also dimming function and address diagnosis of the bulb states. IVT BelSU offers a wide range of electronic ballasts “Helios” different rated power: 70 W, 100 W, 150 W, 250 W, 400 W.

Unlike most similar devices on the market of lighting, “Helios” electronic ballast has a built-in PLC modem. Therefore, the lamps controlled by the existing power line, so don`t need additional pad control cable or radio organization.

“Helios” electronic ballast is supported on the lamp power constant, regardless of the input voltage, thereby increasing the life of the lamp. If the input voltage becomes critical value, the device is switched off, while keeping the lamp and its operability.

LEDs and, in some cases, induction lamps are currently the most energy efficient solutions in the field of outdoor lighting. Therefore, the control issue of these types of lighting is quite relevant. IVT BelSU has developed three versions of PLC-modems to control LED and induction lamps: PLC-DALI, PLC-PWM, PLC-0-10. The desired type of device is chosen depending on the integrated interface of lamp-managed drivers.

PLC-modems allow you to manage each lamp as a stand-alone, according to a predetermined schedule, and through “Helios” automated outdoor lighting control system. The use of the control device in conjunction with the automated outdoor lighting control system provides benefits such as:

  • complete controllability and observability;
  • energy savings up to 40%, by reducing the lamp brightness (dimming) from 100% to 50%;
  • lower maintenance costs of outdoor lighting system with remote control and monitoring of the state of lamps (repair crews known beforehand the place and nature of the damage).
